Which Country This Card Is For

Portugal is one of eleven euro listings in this family, so the currency does not identify the card on its own. Apple issues the code for the country or region of purchase, and Portugal has its own storefront: a Spanish or French euro card will not redeem on a Portuguese Apple Account, and this card will not redeem on a Spanish one.

The message that decides everything here is the one Apple documents as Code must be redeemed in a different country or region — a code bought for one storefront is not spendable on another, and Apple's own example is a card bought in France refusing to redeem in the United States.

What the Balance Pays For

App Store apps, games and in-app purchases.
iTunes Store content, the Apple TV app and Apple Books.
Apple Music, Apple Arcade, Apple TV and in-app subscriptions.
iCloud+.

Apple excludes two things outright: the balance cannot send gifts or gift cards, and nobody else in a Family Sharing group can spend it.

How to Redeem

Find the 16-digit code that begins with X — on a physical card it sits under the peel-off or scratch-off label.
Open the App Store, tap your photo, your initials or the My Account button, then tap Redeem Code. You may be asked to sign in.
Tap Use Camera, or Enter Code Manually if the camera will not read the code. On a Mac, click your name in the App Store sidebar and choose Redeem Code.
Confirm and tap or click Redeem — the balance lands on your Apple Account and shows in your account details.

Delivery

Delivery is digital and automatic — the code lands on the order page and in your inbox minutes after payment clears, with no plastic card in the post, for the Portuguese App Store in euro. If it does not behave as described, contact live chat with the order number and the on-screen message.

Before You Buy

The account's country or region has to be Portugal, because Apple checks the storefront at redemption.
A gift card cannot be redeemed outside the country or region of purchase — that is Apple's rule, not ours.
If Apple answers that the card has already been redeemed, sign out of the App Store on all devices and sign back in to refresh the balance view.
If it answers that the card is not activated, the code was not activated by the seller — that is a retailer problem, not an account problem.

Two points from Apple that apply whatever value is chosen: the code to redeem is the 16-digit number beginning with X rather than any other figure on the card, and gift cards are not available in every country or region, so the storefront match is what makes a code usable at all.
